Accessing Minnow on Mac OS
Accessing Minnow From A Non-CNTRLSRVS Domained Computer - Mac OS
- Launch the VPN if you’re not connected to VT’s network. For assistance with the VPN please use the “Remote Access - Virtual Private Network” FAQ.
- From the “Go” menu option in the “Finder” select the “Connect to Server…” option.
- In the “Server Address:” line type:
- For accessing your personal space on Minnow it will be:
- smb://minnow.cc.vt.edu/cnre1/YourPIDHere
- For accessing a collaborative share space on Minnow it will be:
- smb://minnow.cc.vt.edu/cnre2/ShareName
- If prompted for login credentials:
- Enter in either “Hokies\YourPIDHere” or “CNTRLSRVS\YourPIDHere” depending on your account type without the quotes in the “Name:” field.
- Enter in your Hokies or CNTRLSRVS password in the “Password:” field.
- Place a check mark in the “Remember this password in my keychain” option only if you are logged in to this computer with an account that only you can access. Otherwise anyone else who uses this computer and account will also be able to access your files on Minnow.
- Click on the “Connect” button.
- Note that Mac OS will automatically remember your last server address. However if you wish to connect to a different server but preserve Minnow for later connection use the plus sign to the right of the “Server Address:” to add it to your “Favorite Servers:” in the “Connect to Server” window.
